We've tried many non candy items as nutritional guidelines and customer preferences have moved away from the chocolate and sugar products that were the staple of fundraising in the past. Jack Link's Extreme Sticks have proved to be one of the better alternatives - even out selling candy in some locations.
I personally prefer thick beef sticks to the tougher, flat beef jerky - plus the 1.25oz size is notably larger than the jerky. The variety pack has a good mix and can always be supplemented with 1 or 2 extra cases of your top sellers.
